Abstract

This research analyzes the paradigmatic coordinates of Martyr Qassem Soleimani about the concept of “martyr.” Using the network content analysis method, this research identifies and explains the components related to Martyr Soleimani’s pattern of thought and action in the form of being a martyr. The findings show that Martyr Soleimani, as a military commander and religious figure, was able to gain a deeper understanding of the concept of martyrdom and martyrdom by utilizing his spiritual intuition, analytical rationality, and socio-military experiences. He used these three dimensions simultaneously at different stages of his life, especially in the defense and social fields. The analysis of the themes in Martyr Soleimani’s documents, interviews, and statements shows that faith, commitment to Islamic principles, rationality, and practical experiences have always been the foundation of his decision-making and actions. In this way, this research can help better understand the martyr's personality, as well as how spiritual and rational factors combine to create martyrdom thinking and action. The results of this thesis can be used as a basis for future research in the field of personality and social analysis of other religious and military figures.
